About This Role Performs Quality Engineering assignments requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard Quality techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment and ingenuity in making adaptations and modifications. The Quality Engineer IV leads all quality initiatives and deliverables in support of product design activities, planning, production, data analysis and development of metrics, root cause and corrective action, and process and product improvement.Responsibilities:
- Reviews customer contracts on complex projects with strong focus on ensuring high quality products and process control; responsible for requirements analysis, identification and definition and setting the strategic approach for ensuring Quality on the program.
- Serve as the senior quality authority for highly complex DoD weapon system programs with strict 100% traceability requirements.
- Performs quality planning activities including development of Quality Plan, Quality Assurance Directives and Inspection Plan documents as required by the assigned project(s).
- Interfaces with Supplier Development and Sourcing Engineering to provide guidance and support for supplier issues.
- Participates in product development and design document reviews targeting design for manufacturability
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineers to define, validate, and implement process controls, data collection standards, and inspection gates that guarantee traceability.
- Interfaces with internal organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.
- Lead root-cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective action implementation on high-impact issues involving critical assemblies and subsystems.
- Serve as Quality lead on all internal QMS audits and external customer audits
- M entor and guide junior staff, providing coaching, training, and technical leadership
- Participates in Program Management activities appropriate to the assigned project(s)
- Participates in Contract Data Requirements List development, review and delivery to the customer as required by the assigned project(s).
- Assists in developing fabrication/build processes and standards to meet all contractual requirements
- Serve as senior MRB chair or technical authority, guiding disposition, risk assessment, and documentation for nonconforming materials.
- Interfaces with internal organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.
- Uses knowledge of inspection tools and techniques to define inspection requirements.
- Performs QA estimating in support of proposals for complex projects with stringent requirements and dynamic work scopes.
- Provides status inputs to the Cost Account Manager for tasks performed.
