Job Description

Summary The quality engineer position is primarily responsible for the execution of quality requirements during program launch, with secondary responsibilities in supporting production quality as assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare initial PPAP Submissions to customers, review supplier initial PPAPs, and support reviews of changes as assigned Work with Program Management to ensure all APQP timing requirements are met Ensure that all customer quality requirements are met regarding initial program builds prior to PPAP Work with Engineering and Tooling to review initial sample run parts and provide quality feedback regarding the same. Work with customer and Iroquois engineering departments to aid in the development of tolerances, datum schemes and processing schemes for large assembly operations Supports the creation of PFMEAs, develops the initial control plans and work instructions for all new launches. Reviews the same with the plant quality team prior to homeline runs. Initiate metrology requests for early parts and annual layouts as required. Review the received metrology data for concerns and conformance, escalating as required. Create and populate tracking system and method for early production product verification. Support IMDS submissions form suppliers to customers in the IMDS system. Support gauge design reviews, calibration, and logging of gauge data into system. Conduct gauge R&R as required and assigned. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • 18 years of age or older with the ability to work extended hours
  • Must be able to prove United States work eligibility
  • Demonstrates the skills required or aptitude and motivation to master the required skills, essential duties, and responsibilities with reasonable supervision and training
  • Preferred Education and/or Experience, but not required: Associate Degree / or 7 years of equivalent work experience in the Automotive Quality field
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems
  • Knowledge of Computer systems ( Microsoft, Excel )
  • Familiar with stampings
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
If required by job, must demonstrate the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the company Competency and Awareness If required, must be competent and/or aware of the B Drive within 30 days of placement (reference the general training matrix).
