Summary Responsible for the creation, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Process FMEAs, Control Plans, part-history records, Babtec quality inspections, gage and calibration management, and Measurement System Analysis activities. Ensures quality-planning documents and inspection systems accurately reflect current manufacturing processes, product requirements, customer-specific requirements, identified risks, required controls, inspection methods, and reaction plans. Major Duties & Responsibilities Serve as the primary owner of the company's PFMEA, Control Plan, Part History, Babtec Inspection, Gage Management, Calibration, and MSA systems . Lead the creation, development, implementation, revision, and annual review of PFMEAs and Control Plans for new and existing products and manufacturing processes. Lead cross-functional PFMEA and Control Plan reviews with applicable representatives from Quality, Production, Maintenance, Tool & Die, Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering, and other responsible departments. Ensure PFMEAs accurately identify process steps, potential failure modes, effects, causes, prevention controls, detection controls, product/process characteristics, reaction plans, and required risk-reduction actions. Ensure PFMEA controls are properly transferred into the applicable Control Plan and that PFMEA, Control Plan, process flow, work instructions, Babtec inspections, and actual production processes remain aligned. Verify all applicable drawing requirements, specifications, customer-specific requirements, special characteristics, internal requirements, lessons learned, and corrective actions are incorporated into quality-planning documents. Ensure Control Plan characteristics clearly define the applicable specification/tolerance, measurement method, gage or equipment, sample size, inspection frequency, control method, and reaction plan. Create and maintain part-history records documenting significant drawing revisions, process changes, tooling/equipment changes, material changes, customer complaints, internal concerns, corrective actions, deviations, scrap/rework concerns, and lessons learned. Initiate PFMEA and Control Plan reviews when significant product, process, material, tooling, equipment, inspection, customer, quality, or engineering changes occur. Create, revise, approve, and maintain Babtec quality inspections for applicable incoming, production, coating, safe-launch, enhanced-inspection, and other required inspection stages. Ensure Babtec inspections contain accurate inspection questions, specifications, tolerances, measurement methods, required gages, sample sizes, frequencies, visual standards, reaction plans, reference documents, and data-entry requirements. Ensure Babtec inspections remain aligned with current drawings, PFMEAs, Control Plans, process flows, work instructions, customer requirements, and special-characteristic requirements. Review similar Babtec inspections to ensure consistent inspection wording, methods, frequencies, acceptance criteria, and reaction requirements unless a documented part-specific difference exists. Validate new and revised Babtec inspections with the employees responsible for performing the inspections before final release and provide applicable training or clarification. Conduct periodic reviews of inspection execution to verify employees are performing inspections according to approved Babtec requirements and correct unclear, obsolete, duplicate, or conflicting inspection requirements. Serve as the primary administrator of the company's gage and calibration management system , including gage identification, ownership, location, calibration status, verification requirements, and system records. Create and maintain Babtec gage records for reference gages, externally calibrated equipment, inspection fixtures, master samples, CMM/check fixtures, Instron equipment, and other monitoring and measurement devices. Establish calibration and verification frequencies based on equipment type, manufacturer recommendations, usage, historical performance, measurement risk, customer requirements, and internal requirements. Coordinate external calibration activities, including scheduling, equipment collection, shipment, receipt, certificate review, record retention, and return to service. Review calibration certificates for equipment identification, results, traceability, applicable standards, acceptance status, out-of-tolerance conditions, and calibration-provider accreditation. Identify and remove expired, damaged, unverified, or out-of-tolerance gages from use and coordinate repair, replacement, recalibration, or disposition as required. Perform or coordinate impact evaluations when measurement equipment is found outside acceptable calibration limits and determine whether containment, reinspection, traceability review, corrective action, or customer notification is required. Conduct periodic floor audits of gages and measurement equipment to verify identification, condition, location, calibration status, and proper use. Develop, maintain, and administer the company's Measurement System Analysis program , including the annual MSA schedule. Coordinate and evaluate applicable Variable Gage R&R, Attribute Agreement, Bias, Linearity, Stability, destructive-test, and automated measurement-system studies. Coordinate corrective actions when measurement systems do not meet acceptance requirements and repeat studies as necessary to verify effectiveness. Support new-product launches, engineering/process changes, PPAP activities, customer submissions, internal audits, customer audits, and third-party audits by providing applicable PFMEA, Control Plan, inspection, gage, calibration, and MSA evidence. Monitor and report applicable KPIs including annual PFMEA/Control Plan/Babtec review completion, overdue calibrations, external calibration completion, MSA completion and acceptance, PFMEA action closure, and quality-document alignment. The original role specifically connects PFMEA risks to Control Plan controls, Babtec inspections, gages/testing, process monitoring, and reaction plans. Its Babtec ownership includes incoming coil/components, FP/LP/AC/SI production inspections, coated-part inspections, and safe-launch activities. Gage ownership includes calibration, certificate review, out-of-tolerance impact assessment, and facility gage audits. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Education Associate or bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Metrology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent relevant automotive quality, manufacturing, metrology, calibration, or quality-planning experience may be considered in place of formal education. Experience Three or more years of automotive quality, quality planning, manufacturing quality, metrology, inspection planning, or related experience preferred. Experience creating or maintaining PFMEAs and Control Plans is strongly preferred. Experience with Babtec or comparable CAQ inspection systems, gage/calibration management, MSA, automotive manufacturing, engineering drawings, and customer-specific requirements is preferred.

Skills Strong working knowledge of

methodology, including the seven-step approach, Action Priority evaluation, risk-reduction actions, and linkage of risks to process controls. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, special characteristics, and customer-specific requirements. Ability to translate technical requirements into clear and usable inspection questions, measurement methods, gage requirements, frequencies, acceptance criteria, and reaction plans. Working knowledge of dimensional measurement principles, calibration practices, gage control, MSA acceptance requirements, and basic GD&T. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify document gaps, measurement-system risks, conflicting requirements, and uncontrolled process conditions. Ability to lead cross-functional reviews and communicate technical quality requirements effectively with production, engineering, maintenance, tooling, logistics, suppliers, management, and Quality personnel. Strong organizational skills and attention to revision control, traceability, record accuracy, deadlines, and annual review requirements. Language Skills Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, customer standards, quality procedures, and manufacturing documentation. Ability to clearly communicate technical quality requirements, risks, inspection instructions, corrective actions, and document changes verbally and in writing. Ability to prepare professional PFMEAs, Control Plans, inspection requirements, technical communications, training information, and quality records.
Computer / Software
Proficient in computer-based quality documentation, inspection planning, calibration management, reporting, and record control. Working knowledge of Babtec CAQ , including inspection planning, inspection characteristics, gage management, calibration records, MSA records, and applicable quality modules. Working knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP systems as applicable to part, material, inspection, and production information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint . Ability to navigate applicable customer portals, drawing/specification systems, and internal document-control systems. Ability to learn and effectively use additional customer, supplier, measurement, quality, or company software as required. Training Requirements Not all training or certifications are required at the time of hire. Required competency shall be established within an approved timeframe based on assigned responsibilities. The employee must be able to independently create/revise PFMEAs and Control Plans, lead cross-functional reviews, connect PFMEA risks to Control Plan and Babtec controls, create usable Babtec inspections, review calibration records, coordinate MSA studies, interpret MSA results, and maintain accurate quality-planning and gage records. Work Environment / Conditions Office Work is regularly performed in an office environment involving computer use, technical-document creation, drawing and specification review, meetings, cross-functional reviews, quality-system maintenance, data analysis, and communication. Moderate office noise and extended periods of computer-based work may occur. Plant Work is regularly performed throughout automotive manufacturing, laboratory, inspection, and production environments while reviewing processes, validating inspection methods, verifying gages, conducting MSA studies, auditing Babtec inspection execution, and confirming PFMEA/Control Plan alignment. The position may be exposed to standard automotive manufacturing conditions including moderate noise, moving machinery, production equipment, temperature variation, oils, lubricants, metal components, and other materials customary to manufacturing. Applicable PPE must be worn in designated areas and may include safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, sleeves, or other protective equipment. Travel Limited travel may be required to support external calibration providers, suppliers, customers, training/certification activities, launches, or other company locations. Normal travel is expected to average approximately 15% , but may vary depending on launch, calibration, training, customer, and business requirements. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to communicate verbally, hear, see, review detailed technical information, and use a computer. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout office, laboratory, inspection, and manufacturing environments. Occasional bending, reaching, stooping, grasping, and handling of parts, gages, fixtures, calibration equipment, documents, or other materials may be required. The position may occasionally require lifting or carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds . The team member must also be capable of safely handling measurement equipment and fixtures appropriate to assigned responsibilities and utilizing assistance when required. Required PPE shall be worn when entering designated manufacturing, laboratory, customer, supplier, or industrial areas.
