We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Laconia, NH. Please apply on Indeed or send resume to tthibault@rubber-group.com The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving product quality, manufacturing processes, and Quality Management System (QMS) effectiveness. This position serves as a liaison between Quality, Engineering, Production, Customers, and Suppliers to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. The Quality Engineer supports continuous improvement initiatives, investigates quality issues, and implements corrective and preventive actions to reduce risk and improve operational performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Quality System Support Support compliance with AS9100, customer-specific requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements. Assist in maintaining and improving Quality Management System documentation, procedures, and work instructions. Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and certification audits. Process Improvement Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for quality improvement and waste reduction. Lead root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions. Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and verify sustained improvements. Customer Quality Investigate customer complaints, returns, and nonconformances. Coordinate containment, correction, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities. Prepare customer responses including 8D reports, corrective action reports, and quality documentation. Support customer quality improvement initiatives and performance objectives. Production and Manufacturing Support Provide technical support to production personnel regarding quality requirements and acceptance criteria. Review and approve inspection plans, control plans, and process validation activities. Support first article inspections (AS9102), process qualifications, and production part approvals. Participate in new product introduction and feasibility review activities. First Article Inspection (FAIR) Coordination Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements. Review customer drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements to determine FAIR requirements. Prepare and maintain AS9102 Forms 1, 2, and 3 or verify completion by responsible personnel. Coordinate cross-functional activities required to complete FAIR packages, including Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Inspection. Verify traceability of materials, special processes, certifications, and inspection records included in FAIR packages. Review manufacturing and inspection documentation to ensure all design characteristics are properly accounted for and verified. Manage submission of FAIR documentation to customers and respond to customer questions or requests for clarification. Maintain FAIR records and track partial, delta, and full FAIR requirements resulting from engineering changes, process changes, tooling changes, manufacturing location transfers, or lapses in production. Monitor FAIR performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the FAIR process. Supplier Quality Assist with supplier qualification, monitoring, and performance evaluations. Support supplier corrective action activities and improvement initiatives. Review supplier quality data and identify opportunities for improvement. Participate in supplier audits as required. Data Analysis and Reporting Collect and analyze quality data including scrap, rework, customer returns, FPY, supplier performance, and process capability. Identify trends and recommend actions to improve quality and reduce cost of poor quality. Risk Management Participate in risk assessments for new products, process changes, and quality concerns. Support implementation of risk mitigation activities. Assist in maintaining risk registers and monitoring action plans. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing quality experience may be considered. Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality engineering, or related field preferred. Experience in aerospace, automotive, or regulated manufacturing environments. Experience with AS9100 Quality Management Systems. Knowledge and Skills Understanding of quality engineering principles and statistical analysis techniques. Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies. Knowledge of Fist Article Inspections Familiarity with AS9100 and customer quality requirements. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T. Experience with inspection methods, measurement systems, and calibration requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Preferred Qualifications Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification. ASQ certification(s). Experience conducting internal audits.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $84,000.00 per year
