Production Pattern Foundry, Inc. (PPF) is a full-production aluminum casting foundry working exclusively in clean, versatile aluminum alloys. Our sole business focus is developing custom aluminum castings for a variety of applications. Position Summary The Quality Manager carries out a responsive quality effort to process profitable customer orders and help PPF exceed customers' expectations. This position will lead and maintain the defined quality system elements in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Manages the Quality Management System (QMS) at PPF. Interfaces with Sales, Engineering, Production and the Pattern Shop to improve cooperation, quality, profitability, and efficiency. Responsible for all technical expertise regarding aluminum types, grades and heat treatments, melting furnace charge and alloy additions, process monitoring equipment used to measure metal quality, oversight of Quality/Lab Technicians, and special projects or improvements to melt department operations. Responsible for maintaining the ISO system along with the associated document control.

Responsibilities:

The Quality Manager must engage in the process with a focus on problem prevention and problem solving. Is involved in the AP/QP process to ensure that the processes being designed will attain the quality standards required by the client. Is involved in the preproduction process to ensure the procedures, method, patterns, molds and equipment are set properly to achieve the standards set. Is checking first-off the line to ensure that the product meets the standards and that any changes in the production process can be identified as early as possible so that necessary changes can be made to ensure that quality standards are being met. Is checking throughout the process to ensure that defects caused by miscalculations or inadvertent changes in the process or equipment that is causing defects is identified and corrected immediately. Is involved in not only identifying problems but recommending solutions to correct or prevent problems. Assessing the quality of a products at the end of the line to ensure that products that do not meet specs are not delivered to the client. Process Development Establish and maintain quality system and procedures Drive quality and continuous improvement in all aspects of the business Oversee the development of product quality plans and process control procedures that will ensure products meet all quality specifications and standards Team Facing/Customer Facing Works with the President and Production Supervisors on process changes and necessary documentation (Corrective Actions, Production Instructions, Pictorials). Responsible for Internal Auditing, customer audits and third party audits. Negotiate quality requirements with customers and suppliers and assure compliance with agreed requirements through regular system audits and necessary corrective action. Supply technical assistance to the sales and marketing department in all quality aspects related to the business; resolve customer and supplier quality problems. Facilitate meetings on a regular basis with customers, suppliers and co-workers regarding quality with high quality presentations and effective meeting skills. Lead investigations of Internal, Customer, and Supplier non-conformances. Manage the Quality and Inspection team. Supporting Activities Provide effective and understandable reporting systems to monitor and assess the quality performance of products and processes; take appropriate measures to achieve desired quality levels. Responsible for Inspection Reports and First Article reports. Responsible for maintenance of the Management Review process. Responsible for preparation of the Monthly Performance report. Maintenance of all ISO accreditation processes. Responsible for product certification including Non-Destructive and Destructive inspections and testing of castings. Responsible for Lab activity and documentation. Responsible for maintaining the gage and equipment calibrations and documentation.

Qualifications:

This individual must be able to evaluate, troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. Individual must be self-directed, motivated and possess the ability to effectively work with customers, management and manufacturing teams. The individual must be able to manage multiple projects and demands. Must have a minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership success in a similar manufacturing role. Previous foundry experience is preferred. Degrees & Certifications BS Degree in Engineering or Quality Management preferred. Experience 5 years of foundry experience in Quality Control/Assurance management systems Must have ISO experience Must possess experience in QMS administration and management Experience managing/leading teams MAGMA Solidification modeling experience a plus Solidworks, AutoDesk, Pro/E experience a plus Experience in Aluminum Metallurgy preferred Experience in SPC analysis and reporting Skills and Knowledge Strong background in statistics, quality inspection methods, inspection equipment and AQL Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills Strong knowledge of air set foundry practices Knowledge of welding processes and qualifications is beneficial Ability to read and produce technical reports and diagrams of manufacturing processes Strong problem solving, root cause analysis skills and analytical thought process Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications Capable of reading and evaluating engineering drawings Broad knowledge of varied alloy groups Strong problem solving, analytical and statistical skills Ability to collect and process data accurately Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent computer skills
