Advanced Quality Engineer Job Duties- Support product quality deliverables assigned to design, critical features, and reliability analysis input to project teams.
- Plan and participate in reliability testing and analysis, and process capability studies to determine process efficiency and suitability.
- Coordinate quality activities within manufacturing, supplier, six-sigma and product support to ensure design requirements are conveyed to the unit level and appropriate inspection, measurement, and test controls and procedures are established.
- Provide input to manufacturing engineering and production management from process capability studies for continuous improvement.
- Support creation (new methods) and revision (existing methods) efforts in areas with significant impact on product, process or equipment.
- Participate in analysis and reporting of warranty returns.
- Provide ongoing product, process, equipment and method creation/revision input to owners of quality management system elements for inclusion in system documentation.
- Provide periodic input to the Quality Manager for the ongoing incremental improvement of the Design Support Quality Engineer function.
- Mentor new employees, technicians and student engineers as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications
- 5-7 years related experience
- Bachelor's degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance)
- Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
- Frequent travel (6-20%)
- Frequent overnight stays (6-20%)
- Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business
- 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ (or equivalent) Certified Quality or Reliability Engineer certification and/or PMP certification
- Good computer literacy, word processing skills (MS Word) and spreadsheet skills (MS Excel)
- Knowledge of databases (MS Access)
- Technical skills and training, such as quality tools and techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability and statistical process control (SPC)
- Formal or informal training in problem solving methods (six-sigma, Red-X, 8D)
- Good communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with others, and the personal drive and sense of urgency required to deliver timely support
