Job Description
Quality Engineer General Tool Co - 3.6 Reading, OH Job Details Full-time 23 hours ago Qualifications Manufacturing company experience Full Job Description You Don't Just Find Problems. You Eliminate Them. At GTC, quality isn't a checkbox at the end of the process — it's built into every step, on every part, for every customer who depends on us to get it right. The Quality Engineer is the person who makes that happen: managing nonconformances, driving root cause investigations, keeping customer relationships strong, and pushing the GTC quality system forward every single day. If you're the kind of quality professional who leads with data, communicates with authority, and never lets a problem recur twice, this is where your expertise belongs. And through our Ownership For All program, the quality standards you uphold here build something that's partly yours. Every eligible full-time employee receives an ownership stake in GTC. From day one, you're not just joining a team. You're becoming an owner. Your wins aren't just good for the company. They're good for you. What You'll Do You'll be the quality owner for specific GTC customer hardware — the point person for nonconformances, corrective actions, customer communications, and audit support. That means reviewing Nonconforming Material Reports, digging into root causes alongside production supervisors and engineers, and compiling RCCA results in a clear, complete format using 8D methodology for customer and government agency submission. You'll attend pre-manufacturing meetings to get ahead of discrepancies before they happen, using historical knowledge to spot risk early and eliminate waste before it shows up on the floor. You'll review and approve new and altered production routings to make sure every customer and GTC quality requirement is properly embedded in the process — not bolted on at the end. And when contractual requirements need scrutiny, you'll be at the table with Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, and Business Development to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. On the continuous improvement side, you'll collect and analyze statistical data, develop and report quality performance metrics that elevate awareness across the organization, and build new approaches to prevent errors that keep finding their way back. You'll support internal, customer, and regulatory audits, and you'll work across the quality team to develop and implement enhancements to the GTC quality system that make us measurably better. This role moves. You'll be across machine shops, fabrication facilities, and assembly bays — on your feet, working around large assemblies, handling precision measuring equipment, and doing what it takes to keep the floor accountable to the standards our customers demand. What You Bring Five or more years of quality experience in a government or aerospace manufacturing environment is the foundation. You read and interpret blueprints and technical documents with confidence, you have a strong command of GD&T, and you've done real work in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement — not just training, but actual results. A bachelor's or associate degree in a mechanical, industrial, or quality-related field is preferred, though five years of solid defense manufacturing quality experience speaks just as loudly. U.S. citizenship is required. You'll also bring training in
ISO 9001, AS9100, TS
16949, or related standards, along with Lean Enterprise tools and the computer and software skills to work efficiently in a data-driven quality environment. You communicate clearly in every direction — engineering, inspectors, management, and customers — and you solve problems by building solutions that stick. You work well under pressure, navigate shifting situations without losing focus, and bring a collaborative energy that makes the whole quality team stronger. Why GTC Work performed to the most rigorous defense quality standards in the industry —AS9100, ISO
9001, and military specifications — that build your credentials with every project you touch. A culture that takes continuous improvement seriously and gives quality engineers the authority and visibility to drive it. Colleagues who are as committed to getting it right as you are. And through Ownership For All , a genuine stake in the company you're helping to make better every day. From day one, you're not just a quality engineer here. You're an owner. GTC is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V. All applicants are considered based on experience and knowledge, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ancestry, marital status, disability, or veteran status. We are committed to a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.Similar remote jobs
