Hire Horizons is partnering with a long-established industrial manufacturer in Northwestern Pennsylvania that is investing in and strengthening its asset reliability capabilities. We are seeking a Senior Asset Reliability Engineer to provide technical expertise across equipment reliability, root cause failure analysis, preventive and predictive maintenance, asset performance, and continuous improvement. This is a newly created, direct-hire position with the opportunity to play an influential role as the organization strengthens and modernizes its asset reliability program. You will work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations, and other teams to assess the reliability of rotating and fixed equipment, investigate equipment failures, develop and implement reliability improvements, and provide technical guidance for repairs, upgrades, and maintenance strategies. The company is open to considering candidates ranging from an experienced Reliability Engineer to a highly accomplished engineer capable of contributing at the Chief Engineer level. Essential Job Functions:
Evaluate rotating and fixed equipment reliability to identify opportunities to improve availability, reduce failures, and extend asset life. Lead root cause failure analyses (RCFA), identify recurring equipment problems and bad actors, and develop sustainable engineering solutions. Analyze equipment history, failure modes, condition-monitoring data, and reliability trends to identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities. Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using equipment criticality, operating history, vibration, oil analysis, and other condition-monitoring information. Monitor reliability performance and KPIs such as MTBF, equipment availability, downtime, and recurring failures to drive measurable improvements. Perform field evaluations and equipment assessments and provide technical recommendations for repairs, upgrades, design improvements, and maintenance strategies. Build productive relationships across Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, EHS, and other teams to troubleshoot equipment problems and implement reliability improvements. Support capital projects and equipment modifications through equipment selection, design reviews, reliability and maintainability input, installation, and commissioning. Participate in equipment criticality assessments, FMEA/FMECA, MOC, PSSR, incident investigations, and other reliability and Process Safety Management activities. Support turnarounds, major maintenance activities, startups, shutdowns, and significant operational events as needed. Help strengthen asset reliability and mechanical integrity practices through continuous improvement, technical documentation, and reliability strategies that balance safety, risk, performance, and ROI.
Qualifications for this role include:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required. 7+ years of mechanical, equipment, or asset reliability engineering experience within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, or another complex process/heavy industrial environment. Demonstrated experience supporting industrial rotating and/or fixed equipment reliability. Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, equipment failure modes, troubleshooting, and root cause failure analysis. Experience developing or improving preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and addressing recurring equipment failures or bad actors. Familiarity with condition-monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, and other predictive maintenance technologies. Working knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance, equipment criticality, FMEA/FMECA, and reliability performance metrics such as MTBF and equipment availability. Experience supporting capital projects, equipment upgrades, design improvements, or commissioning activities preferred. Working knowledge of Process Safety Management and experience with MOC, PSSR, incident investigations, or related process-safety activities. Experience with PCMS or another asset reliability, mechanical integrity, or maintenance management system preferred. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with operators, maintenance technicians, engineers, and plant leadership and translate technical findings into practical solutions. Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently, exercise sound engineering judgment, and balance reliability improvements with safety, risk, cost, and ROI. Maintains a valid driver's license and good driving record. Willingness to relocate to Northwestern Pennsylvania for an on-site position; relocation assistance is available.
