Job Title:
Automotive Quality Engineer (PPAP, APQP)
Type of Position:
This position will begin as a 6-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 6 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.
Job Location:
Bloomfield, CT (on site role).
Compensation:
$42.85/hr to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours)
Benefits:
Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) - benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. This role will have 5 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.
Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products to hire a Quality Engineer. This role is responsible for researching, evaluating, and testing the design, functionality, reliability, and maintainability of products, equipment, systems, and manufacturing processes. This role develops and supports quality standards, analyzes product and process performance, and helps ensure compliance with customer, industry, and manufacturing requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong automotive quality experience, including working knowledge of
PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, AIAG
Core Tools, and IATF requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards for products, processes, equipment, and systems. Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and computer-generated reports. Evaluate product integrity, manufacturing capability, and compliance with established quality standards. Develop sampling procedures, inspection methods, forms, and instructions for collecting, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Establish and support programs used to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production, testing, measurement, and analytical equipment. Analyze quality issues and lead structured problem-solving and corrective-action efforts. Support automotive quality activities, including: Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Support compliance with AIAG Core Tools and IATF quality standards. Create sketches, engineering drawings, and technical documentation as needed. Prepare training materials and conduct training sessions related to quality-control processes and requirements. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and constructive feedback to employees involved in inspection, testing, and quality-data collection. Direct or coordinate activities involving product measurement, testing, and the tabulation of quality and reliability data. Support quality functions involving incoming materials, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, metrology, automated testing, inventory control, and research and development. Work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams. Requirements /
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Five to seven years of relevant quality engineering or manufacturing experience. Automotive PPAP experience. Working knowledge of APQP, MSA, SPC, and FMEA. Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools and IATF requirements. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation. Experience with engineering and quality-related computer applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience using Minitab statistical software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment with general direction from a supervisor. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic leadership and mentoring skills. Work Environment /
Other Info:
This is a 1st (day) shift role. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts from either 7:00am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 5:00pm. This will be a 100% on site role (no hybrid / remote work). There may be occasional overtime as needed (OT won't be extensive). Any overtime will be paid at 1.5x. Offer may be contingent upon a drug screen (which may include cannabis) and a background check.
