Mission Critical Commissioning Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery and commissioning of large-scale Mission Critical Data Center projects in Texas. The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, execution and documentation of commissioning activities across critical electrical and mechanical systems. This role will work closely with project management, construction teams, subcontractors, vendors and clients to ensure systems are installed, tested and fully operational in accordance with project requirements. This is a hands-on position within a fast-paced Mission Critical environment and would suit an engineer with previous Data Center, Mission Critical or large-scale MEP commissioning experience.
Responsibilities Include:
Plan, coordinate and execute commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. Develop and review commissioning plans, test scripts and procedures. Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, MEP, controls and project teams. Witness and document equipment and system testing. Support FAT, SAT, functional performance testing and Integrated Systems Testing (IST). Commission critical electrical and mechanical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, BMS and controls. Review drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and commissioning documentation. Identify, track and resolve deficiencies throughout the commissioning process. Coordinate testing activities with subcontractors, vendors and commissioning agents. Support the transition from construction through commissioning and operational readiness. Maintain accurate commissioning records, test results and project documentation. Attend project meetings and provide regular updates on commissioning progress. Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues. Ensure commissioning activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Maintain a strong focus on safety throughout all commissioning activities.
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years of engineering or commissioning experience. Previous experience working on Data Center / Mission Critical projects. Strong understanding of electrical and/or mechanical MEP systems. Experience with commissioning processes, testing and documentation. Knowledge of critical infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear, electrical distribution, HVAC, BMS and controls. Experience with functional performance testing and/or Integrated Systems Testing. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, clients and project teams. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard project documentation systems. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently within a project team. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering field. Previous experience commissioning large-scale Data Center facilities. Experience with MV/LV electrical systems, generators, UPS and switchgear. Experience with chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units and associated mechanical systems. Experience with BMS/EPMS and controls systems. CxA, CxP or other commissioning-related certification. Experience working with major General Contractors, MEP contractors or Commissioning Authorities. Working Conditions:
Primarily based on an active Data Center construction project. Regular presence on the project site is required. Exposure to construction environments, noise, dust and varying weather conditions. Ability to work in Texas heat and outdoor conditions when required. May require extended hours, weekends or shift work during critical commissioning and testing periods. Travel between project locations may be required.
Pay:
$150,000.00
