Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a dynamic Senior Quality Engineer to join our team at the Technology and Manufacturing Center in Oak Ridge, TN. Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, this individual will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining robust inspection systems that support production goals for components, assemblies, and machines. This is an opportunity to drive quality excellence, influence manufacturing processes, and help shape the future of our advanced technology operations. What You Will Be Doing In this role, you will lead the development of Advanced Product Quality Planning activities, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis, while championing efforts to identify and implement improvements in inspection technologies, techniques, data collection, and sampling strategies. You will coach and mentor team members on key quality topics and initiatives, and develop detailed inspection plans that specify required instrumentation and gaging. Leveraging strong analytical skills, you will establish process capability metrics, apply statistical methods to enhance product and process performance, and determine optimal sampling frequencies. You will review procurement and design specifications, fabrication procedures, maintenance packages, and other documents to ensure proper quality controls are incorporated. Additionally, you will evaluate First Article Inspection packages, lead root-cause investigations for quality escapes, and drive corrective action implementation. Your expertise will support ongoing improvements to our quality management system, including evaluating test equipment and precision measuring instruments. In this role, you will manage your work effectively to meet schedule and budget expectations with minimal oversight, while adhering to company policies, safety standards, security requirements, and environmental regulations. - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a technical field
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with manufacturing quality systems such as
NQA-1, AS9100, 21 CFR
Part 820, ISO 13485- Ability to obtain a Q-level security clearance A Successful Candidate Also Brings
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance
- Experience in centrifuge manufacturing
- Proficiency in GD&T
- Demonstrated use of Lean Six Sigma tools
- ASQ CQE, Six Sigma, or Lead Auditor certification
- Training and experience in root cause analysis
- Experience with high-precision metal forming, machining, or finishing processes
