Job Description
Calpine Corporation seeks a Plant Engineer II to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of its natural gas and geothermal power plants. In this onsite role, you will provide engineering expertise for plant systems, troubleshooting equipment issues, and leading root-cause analyses. You will develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans, support outages and capital projects, and analyze performance data to improve efficiency, reliability, and environmental compliance. Working closely with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams, you'll help drive continuous improvement, uphold strict safety and integrity standards, and contribute to Calpine's cleaner, lower-carbon energy mission. Responsibilities Ensure reliable operation of natural gas and geothermal plant systems and equipment Perform engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations for plant issues Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance plans Support capital projects, upgrades, and plant performance improvements Monitor plant performance data and recommend efficiency and reliability improvements Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements Prepare technical documentation, procedures, and engineering reports Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams on daily plant needs Participate in outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews Support continuous improvement, innovation, and risk reduction initiatives Required Skills Power plant engineering Mechanical or electrical systems design and analysis Preventive and predictive maintenance Root-cause failure analysis Process control and instrumentation basics Thermodynamics and heat balance analysis Reliability engineering and asset management Project engineering and outage planning Data analysis and performance monitoring Environmental and safety compliance knowledge
