2016 Six Sigma Green Belt Electronics assembly Regulatory compliance Statistical Process Control Reliability analysis Industrial Engineering Attention to detail Productivity software Electrical Engineering Electronic circuit boards Full Job Description Role Overview The Quality Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, quality, and long-term performance of electronic products throughout the product lifecycle. This role partners with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Quality teams to investigate failures, improve manufacturing processes, reduce field returns, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Experience with SMT, PCBA, and high-volume electronics manufacturing is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Product Reliability Develop and implement product reliability testing plans and qualification procedures.
Conduct reliability analyses including:
Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Thermal cycling Vibration testing Temperature and humidity testing Analyze reliability data and recommend design or process improvements.
Calculate reliability metrics including:
MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) Failure rates Weibull analysis Reliability growth models Failure Analysis Lead root cause investigations for: Customer returns Manufacturing defects Field failures Warranty claims Perform failure analysis using tools such as: X-ray inspection Cross-section analysis Optical microscopy Electrical testing Functional testing Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies including: 8D DMAIC Fishbone Diagram 5 Why Analysis Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Manufacturing Quality Support SMT, through-hole (DIP), and final assembly production. Analyze production yield and identify opportunities for improvement.
Monitor key quality indicators including:
First Pass Yield (FPY) Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) Customer PPM Scrap rates Rework rates Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve process capability and reduce defects. Supplier Quality Work with suppliers to resolve component reliability concerns. Review supplier corrective actions (SCARs). Evaluate supplier quality performance and reliability trends. Participate in supplier audits when required. Customer Support Interface directly with customers regarding product quality concerns. Lead customer corrective actions and response documentation. Prepare reliability reports and technical presentations. Support customer audits and quality reviews. Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Develop preventive actions to reduce recurring failures. Participate in PFMEA, DFMEA, and Control Plan development. Drive CAPA activities to closure. Documentation Maintain quality documentation and engineering reports. Develop test procedures and work instructions. Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Qualifications Experience:
3-7 years of quality or reliability engineering experience in electronics manufacturing.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
Experience with SMT manufacturing, PCBA assembly, Box Build Assembly, TPMS experience, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, IPC-A-610, IPC
J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721
Experience with reliability prediction software, statistical analysis, SPC methodologies Knowledge of
PFMEA / DFMEA, CAPA
systems, Root Cause Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/MES systems, and Quality Management Systems.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and data-driven decision making
Other:
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred, Reliability engineering certification preferred
