Job Description

Overview The Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance execution and reliability for a diverse profile of rotating equipment at the Celanese Narrows VA Site. This role will initially support the operation and maintenance of site air and chilled water systems and the selected candidate will support the area technicians and operators in troubleshooting, operation, reliability upgrades and proactive and preventative maintenance of this equipment. Responsibilities
  • Improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of plant air compressors and chillers and associated equipment and controls through the application of engineering expertise in providing right cost solutions to maintenance problems by:
  • Be a site technical expert and leader in air and chilled water system operation, maintenance and reliability.
  • Be a site leader in diagnosing problems and performing timely and thorough repair of complex rotating equipment of various types. Both on-site and offsite.
  • Drafts and revises maintenance and reliability procedures for others to follow.
  • identifies bad economic and reliability performance and crafts overall program to improve performance. Prioritizes this list accurately.
  • Participates in training and development of mechanical team consisting of mechanics, maintenance engineers and specialists as well as project engineers.
  • Accurately and thoroughly summarizes problems, recommends solutions, and communicates to upper management for implementation.
  • Leader in predictive, preventative and reliability methodologies used to drive improvements
  • Manages maintenance backlog and PM schedule compliance. Qualifications
  • Possesses deep knowledge of operating principles involving rotating and ancillary equipment that leads to solutions others may not identify.
  • Strong affiliation with an applicable professional association (ex.--vibration Institute, ASME, reliability professionals, others).
  • Expert level in one of the following or similar technologies (vibration monitoring, RCA, balancing, alignment, precision rebuild, SAP).
  • Experience with a diverse range of rotating machinery (induction motors, air and chilled water systems, single and multi-stage pumps, compressors, fans, gearboxes, instrumentation and controls).
  • Experience with mechanical seal programs and reliability tactics associated with them.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and software as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a healthy respect for cultural diversity and teamwork.
Required Years of Experience:
5+ years in a plant maintenance and reliability
Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering degree that teaches pertinent knowledge highly preferred Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets, work experience, and qualifications. The expected salary range for this Virginia position is between $108,700 and $146,800.
