POSITION SUMMARY
Banning Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to support our Municipal group, with a primary focus on water and wastewater projects. In this role, you will assist Project Managers by performing routine aspects of civil engineering assignments, building familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the firm. The position centers on municipal clients and touches on stormwater, site planning and layout, water and wastewater, and dam inspections and assessments. It is well suited to a recent graduate who wants to develop a broad municipal engineering skill set within an employee-owned firm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide CAD drafting support for Project Managers and Engineers during the planning, design, and construction phases of a wide variety of projects. Perform hydraulic modeling using programs such as SewerCAD, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and SewerGEMS. Use available GIS applications and data to obtain project design details and create deliverables. Research permitting agencies and their jurisdictions, complete application documents, and communicate with permitting officials to facilitate processes. Perform civil engineering design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons, and related technical reports as required. Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians within the discipline group. Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects, and recommend necessary changes. Research design options and document findings for Project Engineers and Project Managers. Attend design review meetings and interact with clients as experience progresses. Assist with other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Engineer Intern (EI) certificate, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, SewerCAD, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and SewerGEMS, or GIS.
