From water main and sewer rehabilitation to pump stations and utility improvements, you'll work on projects that protect public health, support economic growth, and enhance quality of life. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Civil Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass: Preparing engineering designs for water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Performing engineering calculations for pipelines, utility systems, grading, and drainage. Conducting utility investigations, field visits, and condition assessments. Coordinating with surveyors, geotechnical engineers, utility companies, and permitting agencies. Developing construction plans, profiles, specifications, and technical reports. Preparing cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and engineer's opinions of probable construction cost. Supporting permitting activities with local, state, and federal agencies. Reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and contractor requests during construction. Participating in construction meetings and field inspections. Coordinating with CAD designers and technical staff to produce quality construction documents. Verifying compliance with applicable engineering standards, client requirements, and quality control procedures. Maintaining project schedules and assist with project documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and abilities: A bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET-accredited university 3-10 years of experience designing municipal water, wastewater, or utility infrastructure projects Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, ArcGIS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, and EPANET Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain within 1 year of employment Experience working with WSSC Water, Washington Aqueduct, DC Water, Baltimore City DPW, Prince George's County, and/or Montgomery County Experience with water main rehabilitation and replacement, sewer rehabilitation and replacement, pump stations, utility coordination, and related municipal infrastructure improvements Experience with construction administration Experience with hydraulic modeling Experience with Microsoft Project If you meet these criteria and are ready to embark on an exciting opportunity, we encourage you to apply and be part of our team!
