Duties, Responsibilities & Other KCI is looking for a motivated Water Resources Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team in summer 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate for this role has experience with both stormwater modeling and design/implementation of drainage and conveyance infrastructure. This role includes working with current team members to complete flood studies/no-rise analyses, bridge hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater master planning, municipal and DOT drainage/culvert analysis and design, and 2D hydraulic analyses. In this role, the successful candidate will be proactive to work with other members of the team and will be responsible for completing various project tasks. The candidate will be working on tasks for open and closed drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood studies and watershed modeling, FEMA compliance documentation, stormwater master planning, scour analysis, erosion and sediment control design, and plan development, design computations, reporting, and documentation for all projects as needed. The candidate will be joining a diverse team with active projects in NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, VA, and DE.

The ideal candidate:

Will be proactive to seek help and guidance on project and design tasks.

Will complete hydrologic and hydraulic computations, reports, and modeling (drainage improvement, watershed evaluation, bridge and culvert replacements, floodplain modeling).

Will design and prepare construction drawings for various water resources projects.

Will assist in the development of multiple projects and deliverables, including plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates, within the schedule and budget. These duties will be performed under the supervision of a project engineer and/or project manager.

Will perform work which involves conventional types of plans, background data, field investigations, surveys, and field equipment.

Has a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MicroStation, Geopak Drainage, and HEC-RAS (preferred).

Has good written and verbal communication skills and has a base understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles.

0-2 Years of experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program

General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Good communication and technical writing skills.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically. Education and/or

Work Experience Preferred:

Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field. Certificates, licenses, and/or

Registrations Required:

Valid Driver's License

Ability to maintain required certifications Certificates, licenses, and/or

Registrations Preferred:

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
