Water/Wastewater Engineer HDR, Inc. United States, South Dakota, Sioux Falls 6300 S Old Village Pl Ste 100 (Show on map) May 12, 2026 Primary Responsibilities HDR's Water/Wastewater Engineer will: serve as a project manager or technical leader for water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping systems, distribution systems, and/or collection systems, conducting concept, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with Project Engineers, appropriate technical professionals, and other disciplines; prepare and review scopes, budgets, and schedules for water and wastewater projects; prepare analysis and study-level reports for water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and distribution and collection systems; prepare detailed plans and specifications for water and wastewater systems and determine appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection; prepare and analyze process and hydraulic calculations; coordinate workload to complete deliverables on schedule and within budget; work closely with the Area Manager and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; perform quality control reviews of completed designs; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed. Required Qualifications A Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering. Experience may include professional, internship, or university research experience and must include experience in: water/wastewater infrastructure projects; water quality analysis; biological treatment processes and systems; physical and chemical treatment processes and systems; statistical analysis; AutoCAD Civil 3D; Revu BlueBeam; SolidWorks; and Microsoft Office. Must hold Engineer-in-Training certification or must have passed Fundamentals of Engineering examination. Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite for this position. Domestic overnight travel up to three times per year for client meetings and professional organization conferences and seminars.
