Job Description
DescriptionAWS is seeking a results-oriented individual to join the Water Infrastructure Team (ADC). In this role, you will execute water-based cooling infrastructure projects in the US East region, working with internal teams—including real estate, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations—as well as external partners such as engineering consultants, general contractors, water treatment vendors, and local utilities. You will drive feasibility, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects that meet regulatory standards and a high bar for operational efficiency, reliability, and safety at the lowest possible cost. You will manage the delivery of multiple concurrent projects, monitor operational efficiency metrics, and build system resiliency for handoff to regional operations teams. You will also serve as the central point of contact for all matters related to water and wastewater treatment and disinfection systems, and for maintaining productive relationships with utility partners. The ideal candidate brings a strong water infrastructure background, an understanding of data center water-based cooling systems, and an interest in innovation and sustainability in the water sector. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen. Key job responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
- Manage the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects that support water delivery to data centers
- Negotiate the terms and oversee the execution of utility system contracts and connection agreements related to domestic, fire, and cooling water supply and wastewater infrastructure
- Engineer, design, construct and monitor water treatment/operations projects and identify optimal design criteria for scaling projects to full-scale deployment across different regions in North America
- Manage projects that directly support water sustainability goals
- Work with internal teams to troubleshoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design and fleet deployed water systems
- Work with local water utilities to understand and coordinate site utility requirements, site inspections and compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes
- Track and manage reliability and maintenance of water systems, as well as the resiliency of sources of water supply required for data center cooling
- Work with Operations to monitor water consumption and develop resiliency plans for water supply sources
- Oversee support and testing/validation of systems during installation, operation, and maintenance of water treatment equipment and associated mechanical system.
- Interface with internal engineering, operations, real estate and environmental health and safety and legal teams to develop and implement solutions in rural areas that often lack adequate available water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Oversee maintenance, reliability and compliance of on-site water treatment and disinfection systems.
- Up to 20% travel as needed for project execution where authorized About the team AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
- 5+ years of commissioning experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and ExcelPreferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
