Job Description

Job Summary The EHS Associate is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the plant's safety and environmental programs. This role focuses heavily on OSHA and EPA regulatory compliance, day-to-day safety training, incident tracking, and ensuring adherence to company safety policies across all plant operations. The EHS Associate serves as a key resource for employees and leadership, promoting a proactive safety culture and minimizing workplace risks. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance (OSHA & EPA) Ensure full compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, and state safety and environmental regulations Safety Programs & Training Develop, deliver, and coordinate safety training for new hires and existing employees, including refresher and job-specific training Track training completion and maintain accurate training records Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing awareness campaigns Evaluate training effectiveness and update content as regulations or operations change Incident Management & Prevention Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; document findings and recommend corrective actions Track incidents, corrective actions, and safety metrics; generate reports for leadership Assist supervisors with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor adherence to safety procedures on the plant floor and provide coaching as needed Plant Safety Oversight Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) Update and control the SDS system Identify potential hazards and work with operations to implement corrective and preventive measures Support ergonomic assessments and machine guarding compliance Participate in safety committees and lead safety-related initiatives Assist employees with workers' compensation claims and coordinate with insurance carriers and third-party administrators Track claim activity and support return-to-work programs Communication & Collaboration Act as a point of contact for safety-related questions from employees and supervisors Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance throughout the plant Collaborate with maintenance, production, HR, and management teams on safety goals and improvements Maintain required OSHA programs (e.g., Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection) Support EPA compliance activities, including waste handling, spill prevention, air/water discharge documentation, and hazardous materials management Prepare for and support regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions Maintain all required safety and environmental records, logs, permits, and reports (e.g., OSHA 300/301/300A) Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Working knowledge of OSHA regulations Experience delivering safety training in a manufacturing or industrial environment Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills Proficient in Microsoft Office products Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels Valid Driver's License Pre-employment drug screen and background check required Preferred Qualifications ASP Certification 2+ years of experience in a EHS or compliance role in a manufactory setting OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications Experience with incident tracking systems or EHS software Some knowledge of ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems Physical & Work Environment Requirements Regular presence on the plant floor; exposure to noise, machinery, and manufacturing operations Ability to walk, stand, climb, and inspect equipment as required Occasional off-shift or weekend work to support training, audits, or incidents Key Competencies Attention to detail and regulatory awareness Training and coaching ability Problem-solving and root cause analysis Integrity and accountability Continuous improvement mindset
Compensation :
Hourly or Salary, based on experience.
