Job Description

Position Summary The EHS Specialist is responsible for regulatory compliance governance, process safety documentation, and audit readiness at a high-purity chemical manufacturing facility supporting the semiconductor industry. This role provides independent technical authority for environmental, health, and safety programs and ensures that site operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements. The position emphasizes regulatory interpretation, documentation ownership, and compliance decision-making, while maintaining sufficient field engagement to verify implementation and identify systemic risk. This position requires the ability to independently interpret and apply EHS regulations without routine supervision. The EHS Specialist is accountable for compliance outcomes, risk acceptance decisions, and timely closure of corrective actions within assigned EHS programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Author, design, implement, and continuously improve the ISO 14001 and
ISO 45001
management systems, including procedures and records. Interpret EHS regulatory requirements and convert them into authored and approved site standards, procedures, and controls. Serve as the document owner, primary author, and approval authority for EHS policies, procedures, permits, and regulatory submittals. Act as the site's primary technical representative for EHS regulatory inspections, external audits, and agency interactions. Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs/HAZOPs, Management of Change (MOC), and process safety risk evaluations. Own environmental compliance programs for air emissions, wastewater discharges, stormwater, and hazardous waste, including compliance strategies and reporting requirements. Author and approve environmental permits, monitoring plans, and regulatory reports in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Lead incident investigations that require regulatory judgment, root cause analysis, and corrective action approval. Perform targeted field verification to confirm conformance to approved EHS systems, rather than routine inspection execution. Define EHS performance indicators, analyze trends, and drive system-level corrective and preventive actions. Minimum Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Education Bachelor's degree required. Preference for engineering or science background including environmental science, chemical engineering, occupational health & safety, or a related technical field. Experience Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role with demonstrated independent ownership of regulatory compliance and EHS documentation. Experience in chemical manufacturing, semiconductor, or other high-hazard industrial environments is preferred. Experience authoring and approving EHS procedures, compliance documentation, and audit responses. Experience leading or independently supporting PSM activities. Knowledge & Skills Strong working knowledge of
OSHA, EPA, DOT
Hazmat, and process safety regulations. Ability to independently interpret regulations and apply them to site operations. Strong technical writing and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with regulators, auditors, and cross-functional teams. Sound judgment in risk evaluation and compliance decision-making.
