Environmental Manager Ergon, Inc - Refining & Marketing Flowood, MS Job Details Full-time 12 hours ago Qualifications Regulatory inspections Environmental permitting Regulatory reporting Environmental compliance Data reporting Bachelor's degree Environmental law compliance support Regulatory submissions Air permitting Full Job Description Position Summary The Environmental Manager is responsible for leading and managing environmental compliance and performance for the Energy & Specialty Solutions (ESS) business unit. This role ensures compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, supports operational excellence initiatives, and promotes a culture of environmental stewardship across operations. The Environmental Manager partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and corporate environmental teams to identify risks, implement effective controls, and drive continuous improvement that supports safe, reliable, and customer-focused operations. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements. Manage environmental permits, including monitoring, reporting, recordkeeping, renewals, and regulatory submissions. Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies, inspections, and compliance communications. Implement and maintain environmental programs, procedures, and management systems to support operational excellence. Oversee compliance activities related to air emissions, water discharge, waste management, and spill prevention programs. Manage environmental monitoring, sampling, data analysis, and reporting activities. Maintain accurate environmental records and documentation to support regulatory and operational requirements. Identify environmental risks and develop mitigation, prevention, and corrective action strategies. Lead or support investigations involving environmental incidents, deviations, or non-compliance events. Coordinate spill response activities, regulatory reporting, and corrective action follow-up. Support internal and external environmental audits and ensure timely completion of corrective actions. Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate environmental requirements into daily operations, capital projects, and management of change (MOC) processes. Promote environmental awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization through communication and training initiatives. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline Minimum of 5 years of environmental management or environmental compliance experience within an industrial, manufacturing, refining, or energy-related environment Working knowledge of environmental regulations related to air, water, waste, and spill prevention Experience managing environmental permits, inspections, monitoring programs, and regulatory reporting requirements Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and coordinating environmental inspections Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to influence operational teams and drive environmental compliance initiatives Strong communication and collaboration skills with a focus on continuous improvement and operational partnership Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting facilities operating under OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements Experience with environmental management systems and continuous improvement initiatives Knowledge of environmental auditing practices and incident investigation processes Experience supporting capital projects and management of change (MOC) reviews Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams Commitment to environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and customer-focused service delivery
