Cleans all areas of the district according to policies and procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department. Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner. Completes work assignments in a timely manner. Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure. Uses and maintains equipment properly. Assists visitors with directions whenever requested. Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors. Reports safety hazards as appropriate. Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area. Replenishes supplies. Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene. Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. Works day, evening or night shift as assigned. Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision. Observes safety precautions at all times. Maintains and ensures age-specific precautions. Performs all aspects of assigned tasks in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Perform related duties as assigned by management.LAUNDRY DUTIES
Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap or other cleaning agent. Turns valve to fill washer with water. Starts machine that automatically washes and rinses articles. Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into wringers and dryers for measured time cycles. Sorts dried articles according to identification numbers or type. Folds and places items in appropriate storage bins. Washes and sorts residents' personal laundry. Washes and sorts residents' gowns; separates infectious isolation wash. Makes up and sets up linen carts for all three shifts with proper amounts of linen. Hangs resident's personal clothing on racks according to resident's room number. Marks or otherwise identifies resident and facility laundry with departmental or individual identification. Sorts articles into groups according to the laundry treatments each will receive. Stores and issues clean linen from the clean linen room. Issues clean linens (bedspreads, bath blankets, Posey restraints, pillows) to proper linen closets. Segregates worn, stained or otherwise imperfect articles. Lubricates machines. Dissolves soap granules in hot water and steam to make liquid soap. Mends torn articles. Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists. Soaks contaminated articles as per policy. Mixes dyes and bleaches according to formula. Dyes and bleaches specified articles. Able to read and understand equipment operation manuals.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Actively checks and responds to emails at least once per shift. Completes all mandatory education within given timeframe. Maintains regulatory requirements. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled. Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes. Actively participates in the department's quality improvement (QI) activities. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices and the employee handbook. Communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department. Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean. All Ferry County Health employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state and federal regulations, including not but limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements High school diploma/GED equivalent preferred.OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
