Job Description

Equipment Superintendent Fuller & Sons Construction, LLC, Heavy Civil Construction & Fleet Operations Leadership Position Summary Fuller & Sons Construction is seeking a driven, field-focused Equipment Superintendent to lead the coordination, movement, utilization, compliance, and operational readiness of our heavy equipment fleet across all divisions and projects. This position is critical to keeping our operations moving efficiently in the field by ensuring equipment is delivered on time, maintained properly, compliant with DOT regulations, and operating safely at peak performance. The Equipment Superintendent serves as the operational connection between project management, field operations, dispatch, mechanics, and equipment vendors. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced heavy civil construction environment and bring strong leadership, accountability, communication, and equipment knowledge to the organization. Primary Responsibilities:
Fleet Scheduling & Equipment Coordination Coordinate daily movement and scheduling of heavy equipment between Fuller & Sons projects, yards, and shop locations Prioritize fleet allocation based on production demands, project schedules, and operational urgency Work directly with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and Dispatch to ensure equipment availability for all phases of work Manage equipment transfers, hauling schedules, and rental logistics Track equipment utilization to reduce idle time and maximize fleet efficiency Field Operations Support Conduct routine jobsite visits to inspect equipment condition, operational readiness, and field usage Work alongside field leadership to identify equipment needs, production bottlenecks, and maintenance concerns Ensure operators are completing pre-trip inspections, equipment reports, and safety documentation properly Support crews in troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating repairs quickly to minimize downtime Assist with startup planning for new projects requiring equipment mobilization DOT & Compliance Oversight Maintain compliance with DOT regulations for trucks, trailers, and transport equipment Coordinate annual inspections, registrations, permits, and required compliance documentation Ensure all fleet records are organized, current, and audit-ready Work closely with Fuller & Sons safety leadership to maintain company safety and compliance standards Monitor hauling practices and transportation procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operations Maintenance & Reliability Coordination Partner closely with the Shop Superintendent to develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules Coordinate repair priorities based on operational impact and project demands Assist with field service scheduling and outsourced vendor repairs Identify recurring mechanical issues and help implement long-term reliability improvements Monitor equipment downtime and communicate repair status with operations leadership Leadership & Accountability Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence throughout fleet operations Build strong working relationships with operators, mechanics, project teams, vendors, and management Maintain clear communication between field operations and shop personnel Support company initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, organization, and fleet growth Lead by example with urgency, ownership, and commitment to the Fuller & Sons standard QualificationsRequired 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction equipment operations or fleet management Strong knowledge of heavy construction equipment, hauling logistics, and fleet coordination Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance Experience coordinating equipment across multiple active jobsites Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced construction environment Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Preferred CDL License Mechanical or shop operations background Experience in earthwork, underground utilities, roadway, or heavy civil construction Familiarity with fleet management and maintenance tracking software OSHA 30 Certification What Success Looks Like at Fuller & Sons Equipment is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule Field crews have the equipment needed to maintain production Equipment downtime is minimized through proactive planning DOT inspections and compliance standards are consistently maintained Communication between field, dispatch, and shop operations is seamless Fleet utilization and operational efficiency continue improving company-wide Core Values We Expect At Fuller & Sons Construction, we value: Accountability Work Ethic Integrity Safety Reliability Teamwork Problem Solving Professionalism We are looking for leaders who take pride in building systems, supporting crews, and helping drive the company forward. Pay:
$70,000.00 - $81,204.22 per year
