Experienced Estimator Position Fryer Excavating has been a trusted name in commercial contracting for nearly 20 years. Specializing in asphalt paving, concrete, utilities and excavation, we proudly serve clients across western PA and eastern Ohio. With a project range of $50K to $2M, we deliver quality work with attention to detail. Our office, nestled in a secluded area, is located in North Sewickley, PA. We are seeking an Experienced Estimator to support our growing construction operations in asphalt, concrete, utility and excavation. This position will be responsible for reviewing bid opportunities, preparing accurate estimates, analyzing project costs, coordinating material pricing, and helping ensure that awarded work is set up for profitability from the start. The ideal candidate will have strong construction estimating experience, understand field production, and be able to work closely with operations, purchasing, project managers, and field leadership. Key Responsibilities Review bid documents, plans, specifications, addenda, and project requirements. Prepare detailed estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, trucking, fuel, and overhead. Solicit and review supplier and subcontractor quotes. Work with purchasing to identify cost savings, buy down material, and lock in competitive supplier pricing. Prepare bid summaries and review estimated margins before submission. Coordinate with field managers and project teams to confirm means, methods, crew sizing, equipment needs, and production rates. Assist with creating project handoff packages after award, including budgets, supplier pricing, PO needs, and scope clarifications. Identify risk items, exclusions, alternates, and potential change order opportunities. Maintain and update historical cost data, production rates, and vendor pricing. Support value engineering and cost review on active and upcoming projects. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of construction estimating experience preferred. Experience in heavy civil, excavation, asphalt, concrete, utility, or site work strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents. Strong understanding of labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and overhead costs. Proficient with Excel and estimating software. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work under bid deadlines and manage multiple estimates at once. Field experience is a plus.
