Job Title:
Fabrication Technician Job Description This entry-level role focuses on fabricating and finishing fiberglass structures using hand and power tools in a production environment. You will support the fabrication and finishing department by assembling, drilling, sealing, packing, and crating fiberglass products while following safety and quality standards. The position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals with basic tool experience who are eager to learn and grow in a manufacturing setting. Responsibilities Fabricate and finish fiberglass structures according to production specifications and instructions. Perform packing and crating of finished fiberglass products to prepare them for shipment. Drill holes, apply handles, and seal ends of fiberglass products as required. Make angle cuts using a chop saw and other cutting tools, ensuring accuracy and proper measurements. Use hand tools and power tools such as wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, tape measures, hammers, power drills, and nail guns to complete daily tasks. Follow tape measure readings accurately to cut, assemble, and finish products to correct dimensions. Operate basic production and fabrication equipment as directed, including general assembly and machine operation tasks. Maintain consistent attendance and reliability to support continuous production schedules. Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a fiberglass environment. Keep work areas clean and organized, and handle materials and tools in a safe and efficient manner. Learn and apply new fabrication techniques and processes through on-the-job training. Essential Skills Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure, including passing a tape measure test. At least 3 months of experience in production, construction, or manufacturing; side work is acceptable. At least 3 months of experience using hand tools and power tools such as wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, tape measures, hammers, power drills, and nail guns. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and equipment safely. Reliable attendance and the ability to maintain a consistent work schedule. Ability to perform general labor, assembly, and general production tasks. Comfort working in a fiberglass manufacturing environment. Willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications No formal qualifications required beyond passing the tape measure test. Experience with fabrication or finishing work is helpful but not required. Background in general labor, assembly, machine operation, or manufacturing is beneficial. Openness to training and learning new skills in a production setting. Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a fiberglass manufacturing facility and involves working in the fabrication and finishing department. You will work 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on a rotating schedule of four days on and four days off, with multiple schedules in place to keep the plant running seven days a week. You regularly use hand tools and power tools, including nail guns, chop saws, drills, and other equipment. Steel-toe boots are required for safety, and jeans and t-shirts are acceptable attire. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alum Bank, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.
