Job Title:
Fabrication Technician Job Description This entry-level role focuses on fabricating and finishing fiberglass structures in a production environment. You will work with a variety of hand and power tools to assemble, cut, drill, seal, and prepare fiberglass products for shipment. The position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable with tools, and eager to learn on the job. Responsibilities Fabricate fiberglass structures according to production specifications and work instructions. Perform packing and crating of finished fiberglass products to prepare them for shipment. Drill holes in fiberglass products accurately using hand and power tools. Apply handles and other hardware to fiberglass products as required. Seal the ends of fiberglass products to ensure quality and durability. Make accurate angle cuts using a chop saw and other cutting tools. Operate nail guns, drills, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively. Assist with general production tasks, including assembly, general labor, and machine operation as needed. Measure materials using a tape measure and ensure cuts and assemblies meet specified dimensions. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a fiberglass environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support a safe and efficient production process. Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support continuous plant operations. Participate in on-the-job training to learn fabrication techniques, equipment use, and quality standards. Essential Skills Ability to pass a tape measure test and accurately read and use a tape measure. At least 3 months of production, construction, or manufacturing experience; side work is acceptable. At least 3 months of experience using hand tools and power tools such as wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, tape measures, hammers, power drills, and nail guns. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment. Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) on a four-days-on, four-days-off schedule. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to work safely in a fiberglass environment, including wearing required protective footwear. Additional Skills & Qualifications No formal qualifications required beyond passing the tape measure test. Experience with general labor, assembly, machine operation, or general production work is helpful. Experience with fabrication or manufacturing environments is a plus. Comfort working with nail guns, chop saws, drills, and similar tools. Willingness to learn new skills and follow detailed instructions. Ability to maintain focus and productivity during 12-hour shifts. Comfort working in environments that may have strong odors or be mildly irritating due to fiberglass. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a fiberglass production facility that operates 24/7 with rotating schedules (A, B, C, D) to keep the plant running. The standard shift for this role is 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., on a rotation of four days on followed by four days off. The environment involves handling fiberglass materials, which can be itchy and have a strong odor, though the facility is described as generally clean. You regularly use hand and power tools such as nail guns, chop saws, drills, and other equipment in the fabrication and finishing department. Steel toe boots are required for safety, and jeans and t-shirts are acceptable attire. Safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment are an integral part of daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alum Bank, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.
