Job Description

Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance and Custodial Technician is responsible for supporting the ongoing maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of YWCA Canton's Facility, while also ensuring a clean and safe environment. This role places a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance, basic building systems support, and timely resolution of facility issues. In addition to custodial responsibilities, the technician proactively identifies maintenance needs, troubleshoots minor issues, and helps ensure all building remains functional, compliant, and well-maintained. This role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and professional interaction with staff, program participants, and visitors at each facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including minor repairs, equipment upkeep, and general building maintenance. Conduct basic troubleshooting and repair of facility systems such as lighting, plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, and hardware. Perform HVAC-related maintenance tasks such as filter changes, basic checks, and coordination of service needs. Complete work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner, prioritizing urgent operational issues. Inspect facility regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, or repair requirements. Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance logs. Support room and facility setup needs, including furniture movement and minor equipment installation. Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, common areas, and program spaces in accordance with health and safety standards. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain overall cleanliness of assigned areas. Empty trash, manage waste disposal, and restock restroom and janitorial supplies. Monitor, inventory, and order cleaning supplies to ensure operational readiness. Safely handle, store, and maintain cleaning chemicals and equipment per safety guidelines Perform seasonal snow removal and light groundskeeping duties to maintain safe premises. Identify and report maintenance, safety, or compliance concerns to supervisors. Maintain positive working relationships with staff, program participants, and visitors.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous custodial or facility maintenance experience preferred. Basic knowledge of building maintenance, cleaning procedures, and safety practices. Ability to work independently and respond to maintenance needs. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance required.
Successful completion of:
BCI and FBI background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, sitting on floor, and stair climbing. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to utilize ladder.
Pay:
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour
