The position provides supervision and training of residents in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments. This position requires the ability to climb and work from ladders, scaffolding or hydraulic lifts. Also, the ability to work under unpleasant conditions such as dirty and dusty areas, extreme cold/heat and small or confined spaces. Moderate to heavy lifting will be required. The Facilities Repair Worker-Advanced will be required to attend in-service and trainings and be available to respond to emergency call-ins when the need arises. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 03-12 with a starting pay of $23.69/hour. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Employees at Green Bay Correctional Institution are eligible for a $5/hour add-on for all hours worked. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Qualifications Minimally Qualified Applicants should have: Knowledge of Building construction/repair concepts/techniques Knowledge of Mechanical repair and maintenance principles Knowledge of Janitorial and cleaning techniques Knowledge of Grounds keeping and landscaping methods and procedures Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment
