Job Description

Family Programs Specialist Healthy U - Children & Family Programs Part-Time | Flexible Hours (Approximately 10-20 hours/week) $16-18/hour (some specialized seasonal childcare shifts may pay higher) Position Summary Healthy U is seeking a warm, playful, dependable Family Programs Specialist to help lead enriching experiences for children and families through our growing Children & Family Programs department. This role supports multiple family-centered programs and may be customized based on the strengths, experience, and availability of the right candidate. We are looking for someone who loves building community, engaging children through play, and creating joyful experiences for families.
Programs may include:
Music & Magic (Parent-Child Program | Ages 0-5) Mondays from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM Support our weekly parent-child playgroup that includes: Circle time Songs and movement activities Open-ended play Literacy-rich experiences Process art Early math/science exploration Parent connection opportunities
Note:
Musical ability is a plus, but not required. We welcome applicants who can confidently lead songs, movement activities, storytelling, or other engaging group experiences with young children and caregivers. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Homeschool Support Program (in Planning Phases) Help shape and facilitate an exciting new program designed to help children of all ages build creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, and emotional resilience through hands-on experiences.
This developing program may include:
STEM and maker activities Creative arts projects Team-building challenges Social-emotional learning experiences Outdoor exploration Child-led innovation projects Family coaching for successful homeschool implementation The right candidate may have opportunities to help co-create this program as it grows by contributing ideas, testing activities, and helping shape a unique experience for children and families in our community. _________________________________________________________________________________ Parents' Night Out Help create fun evening experiences for children ages 2-10 including: Dinner service Games Crafts Storytime Dance parties General supervision and care ________________________________________________________________________________ Conscious Discipline Parenting Series Childcare Provide childcare during our seasonal parenting workshops: Supervise children Facilitate simple activities Create a safe and welcoming environment ___________________________________________________________________________________ Celebrate U Birthday Parties Host children's birthday parties at Healthy U by: Greeting families Facilitating activities Supporting event flow Creating memorable experiences for children As this program grows, opportunities for additional hours may become available. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Essential Responsibilities Create safe, engaging environments for children Build positive relationships with families Lead age-appropriate activities Maintain clean and organized program spaces Manage a budget and procure necessary program supplies Follow safety procedures Communicate effectively with supervisors and families Set-up and Clean up for programs Represent Healthy U with professionalism and warmth Qualifications We know great candidates come from many backgrounds. You may be a great fit if you have experience in any of the following: Early childhood education Elementary education Homeschooling Childcare Youth programming Recreation Camps Family services Music, theater, art, or enrichment programming Event hosting
Preferred:
Experience working with children ages 0-10 Strong communication skills Reliable transportation CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Oregon Food Handlers Card (or willingness to obtain) Ability to pass required background checks Willingness to learn about Conscious Discipline approach to child guidance Ideal Candidate You are: Playful Organized Reliable Comfortable engaging groups Calm under pressure Warm and welcoming to families Creative and flexible Schedule This role may include: Weekday mornings Occasional weekday evenings Weekends Schedule and responsibilities may be adjusted based on the availability and strengths of the right candidate.
