Preschool Teacher Assistant

Preschool Assistant Teacher Job Summary Healthy U is hiring a dedicated assistant teacher for our program, All Around Kids Community Preschool. The selected individual will team up with the lead teacher, looking after a group of up to 16 children, ages 3-5, during the afternoons. This role kicks off in August 2026. We highly value reliability and want candidates who can build strong bonds with kids and their families. The perfect person for this position will love reading children's books over and over again, jumping in puddles on rainy days, having dance parties, and drinking make-believe tea. This position is scheduled for approximately 26 hours per week. Work hours fall between 11:00am-7:00pm, Monday to Thursday, with some events occasionally taking place in the evenings or weekends. Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the main teacher on tasks like planning and setting up. Engage and learn with kids daily. Understand and cater to each child's unique needs. Take charge of the classroom when needed. Collect photos and stories of kids during activities. Attend weekly meetings. Prepare and serve daily snacks to kids. Maintain a tidy and inviting classroom and outdoor space. Help with Healthy U events and family gatherings. Show respect and understanding to children and families. React smartly during unexpected situations. Adjust to changes when they come. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Experience or interest in working with young children. Traits like patience, flexibility, and a friendly demeanor. Must be 18 years or older. A high school diploma is a must. Preference for those with an education-related degree or certification. Knowledge or willingness to learn about child-led inquiry is beneficial. Registration with Oregon's Early Learning background check system is required. Have current First Aid and CPR certification or be willing to obtain it with our support An Oregon Food Handlers Card is needed within 15 days of employment.
