Saunders Brothers is a wholesale nursery and family farm in Central Virginia. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Assistant Farm Market Manager that will assist our Farm Market Manager in overseeing the daily operations of our Farm Market in Piney River, VA. Applicants must have excellent management and interpersonal skills, enjoy meeting new people, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of a family owned and operated farm market.Duties:
Willing to work in a fast-paced environment of the Farm Market while providing exceptional and friendly customer service. Responsible for assisting the Farm Market Manager in the daily operations of the Farm Market including: Working the Farm Market floor as needed assessing customer needs and overseeing traffic flow, and inventory. Maintaining an accurate count of jarred good inventory, produce inventory, and kitchen inventory and ordering as needed. Writing the Farm Market staff schedule based on the needs and the demands of the market. (The Farm Market manager will approve the weekly schedule.) Building product displays and making sure the store is appropriately merchandised each day Achieving and maintaining a ServSafe certification for kitchen compliance Overseeing social media and digital marketing. Overseeing and completing Farm Market signage such as product, vendor, and event signs. Willing to lead the Farm Market staff on days the Farm Market manager is not present, including leading a morning huddle, delegating assigned duties to staff, coordinating with the fruit and/or plant sales team to ensure the Farm Market has sufficient levels of product. Attend at least one professional training event each year. Assist with other tasks as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED or a minimum of 3 years' experience in retail sales or related experience. Have good math and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Computer skills including Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, Excel, Word, and Google Applications. Have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, integrity, communication and listening skills, and willingness to work with Saunders Brothers 'Family'. Able to lift 30 lbs. of peaches, apples or other produce. Able to spend approximately 8 hours per day standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, and twisting around. Able to work outdoors in weather conditions including heat, cold and dust. Be able to handle several tasks at the same time, prioritize workload, and have flexibility as work demands change. Willing to work with Spanish-speaking employees and be open to learning Spanish. Must be willing to work after hours as workload and seasons dictate.Start Date :

This position will answer directly to the Farm Market Manager.Hours:
Hours for this position will fluctuate seasonally. Winter hours are as needed to close the previous season and prepare for spring opening. Spring and fall working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a half hour to one hour for lunch. During summer harvest, this position may require longer workdays in order to get tasks accomplished. Summer hours are typically from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm with half an hour for lunch. Vacation is highly discouraged during peak seasons- from July 1-September 30.
