Job Description

Company Overview Herb'n Garden Farms in an exciting, controlled environment agriculture greenhouse operation on Grand Island, NY that provides locals with the freshest, healthiest vegetables year-round. Our state-of-the-art hydroponic growing methods utilize 90% less water than conventional farming, use no herbicides, are ergonomically friendly and are the cleanest, safest production methods possible. Our Farmers Market Team works collectively to harvest and sell our homegrown vegetables and prepare our made from scratch value added foods for sale at local farmer's markets, wholesale accounts, festivals, pop-ups, private & contract events. Position Summary Our Farmer's Market Team members transport and sell our homegrown produce at local farm markets & create an ever-changing menu of fresh, new farm-to-table flavors for our loyal fans. Working from multiple locations, including our greenhouse, commissary kitchen and local farmer's markets, Farmers Market Team members thrive on the creative, fun adrenaline rush of working together to harvest, prepare, pack, setup, serve, sell and cleanup events for local food lovers. Responsibilities & Duties
  • Stores incoming product using proper first in / first out procedures.
  • Packs, loads, delivers, unloads, sets up and tears down and cleans up produce, prepared food, beverage & equipment for scheduled events.
  • Prepares and serves all products according to specifications, including portion size, temperature & presentation.
  • Works directly with the public and other team members, communicating in a professional, friendly, upbeat manner about the menu, our farm, special requests, customer challenges and upsells upcoming events and other information.
  • Utilizes common commercial kitchen equipment and tools to properly prepare food for events.
  • Preforms culinary tasks including but not limited to recipe production, cutting, mixing, portioning, packaging and labeling.
  • Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs as required; and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of greenhouse areas, equipment, food storage, and work areas.
  • Assists in Greenhouse operations as needed
  • Correctly processes customer payments including cash, credit cards, coupons, vouchers, tokens, gift certificates and others as required..
  • Communicates openly with leadership about ideas, menus, processes and challenges.
  • Other tasks as assigned. Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be energetic and able to work in a physically demanding position.
  • Must be able to stand unassisted for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in varied environmental conditions, including but not limited to, indoors, outdoors, inclement weather, walk-in refrigeration, hot or cold, noisy situations and more.
  • Outgoing, fun, creative, local food & beverage enthusiasts preferred. Work Hours & Benefits

  • Valid New York State driver's license required
  • Reliable transportation required. Must be willing to transport equipment and food in personal vehicle.
  • 6 months prior retail, customer service, food service, cash handling required.
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour
