Job Description

Purpose of Position The Corrections Deputy is under the general supervision of the Clark County Sheriff, Chief Deputy, Corrections Captain and Sergeant. This position provides enforcement of federal, state and local laws and ordinances regarding jail/correctional policies, procedures, rules and regulation for the security and order of inmates in a jail/correctional facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Enforce jail/correctional policies, procedures, rules and regulation for the security and order of inmates in a jail/correctional facility.
  • Investigate criminal and or civil violations inside the jail facility, including completing report to be referred to the District Attorney's Office, issuing citations or jail rule violations tickets.
  • Receive book and strip searches inmates and assign and escorts inmates to cells.
  • Issue uniforms, bedding, health supplies and assist with delivery of meals.
  • Assign, supervise and inspect the work of inmates engaged in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Inspect and search inmates and their living quarters for contraband and any unauthorized or dangerous materials.
  • Establish and maintain a continuing relationship with all inmates and make reports regarding the attitude and behavior of inmates to avert potentially dangerous situations for other inmates or staff.
  • Maintain discipline through the enforcement of inmate rules and regulations.
  • Transport or escort inmates to activities, appointments and court to insure that inmates do not escape or violate any laws when they leave the facility.
  • Receive and record fines and bail money.
  • Insure inmates serve the correct amount of time and that each inmate's status is current.
  • Release prisoners and return property.
  • Distribute inmate canteen requests and validate their ability to pay.
  • Track inmates released for Huber law or work release privileges and record authorized personnel involved from outside of facility.
  • Provide written records, reports and logs as necessary to maintain current, updated information of inmates according to federal, state and department policies, rules and regulations.
  • Report to the Jail Sergeant all actions of misconduct, abnormal behavior or attitudes of prisoners.
  • Receive and report to the Jail Sergeant all notable prisoner grievances.
  • Safeguards prisoners' valuables.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Pay:
$26.09 - $34.69 per hour
