Job Description

Company CDL Utilities is a leading provider of telecommunications services, including underground and aerial installation of coax and fiber optic cabling. CDL Utilities also performs excavation and underground installation and maintenance services for utility providers supporting electric, gas, and water systems. For over 20 years, we have built a reputation for quality, service, and safety. Position Overview CDL Utilities has an immediate opening for a skilled and reliable Fiber Splicer to join our team. We are seeking a hard-working individual who is dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working extended hours and occasional weekends during emergencies or special projects. This position is primarily outdoors, and candidates must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions. Most work is performed for local commercial clients throughout Long Island, though occasional travel may be required. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, prepping, splicing, and testing fiber optic cabling in both ISP and OSP environments. However, CDL Utilities is willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Responsibilities Install, prep, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling in ISP and OSP environments Read and interpret technical drawings, prints, and utility maps Complete daily production reports and project documentation accurately Operate and maintain technical equipment including fusion splicers, OTDRs, OFIs, ribbonizers, fiber splitters, and related tools Troubleshoot and resolve fiber issues as needed Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored Maintain safe work habits and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations Communicate effectively with crew leaders, customers, and team members Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred) Must be authorized to work in the United States Must be able to pass drug, criminal, and background screenings Ability to communicate effectively with crew leaders, customers, and employees Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in the utility construction or telecommunications industry Experience installing, prepping, splicing, and testing fiber optic cabling in ISP and OSP environments Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus CDL Utilities is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind including, based on disability and protected veteran status. $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
