Job Summary:

Grind must be safety conscious, dependable, organized, detail oriented, and has experience in cutting and finishing fiberglass boat parts in a production environment. Willing to work on becoming one of the best in the industry, developing and improving your skills daily to have a positive solid career at Blazer Boats.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Safety First
• Cut fiberglass parts consistently and evenly to desired thickness
• Read and interpret order specification and production documentations to trim parts according to patterns and double check for proper location of holes.
• Measure parts properly. Must be able to read a tape measure to the 1/16 inch
• Use putty and filler for leveling surfaces
• Must be able to mix catalyst, gel coat, putties and hardeners properly
• Must be able to wear respirator and other PPE as required for the job
• Prep fiberglass, resins and damaged areas for repair
• Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly
• Mix gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors
• Must be able to use all types of fiberglass cutting air tools safely
• Clean and maintain all work tools and work areas as scheduled
• Identify all boats made by shape, size and model
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Tendency to display endurance and capacity for a fast pace environment
• Able to work independently at times and make sound decisions
• Knows limitations and when to ask for help
• Work the hours required for this position. Overtime may be required
• Minimum one year experience, cutting and shaping fiberglass, preferably in a boat manufacturing or ship yard setting
• Maintain a positive attitude in a team environment
• Self-starter, organizer and planner
• Maintain high standards of quality
• Use all hand tools and measuring equipment
• Understand safety labeling of materials and maintain inventory and waste products
• Work with managers to trouble shoot quality and production issues

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift 50+ lbs.
• Work in a non-climate-controlled environment
• Climb in and out of boats, using a ladder
• Able to stoop, pull, push, reach, kneel, stand & grasp

Job Type:

Full-time Pay:

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
