Job Description
Overview Rockin B Construction LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage the company's financial records with precision while supporting key administrative functions across the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate books in QuickBooks, supporting job cost tracking, and ensuring financial reporting is timely, organized, and reliable. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced construction environment, demonstrate exceptional communication and organizational skills, and maintain a proactive approach to handling diverse financial responsibilities. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, the ability to work independently, and the ability to work well with others in a collaborative team setting to support overall operational efficiency. Duties Maintain and reconcile the general ledger in QuickBooks, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly allocated to projects and cost codes. Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable, including reviewing subcontractor and supplier invoices for accuracy, coding expenses to the correct job and cost category, processing payments, and maintaining lien waivers and 1099 documentation. Oversee Accounts Receivable processes, including preparation and issuance of customer invoices, progress billings, tracking retainage, monitoring payment schedules, and following up on outstanding balances. Track and monitor project costs in real time to ensure accurate job costing and reporting of project profitability. Identify cost variances and provide reporting support to ownership and project management. Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and proper cash management. Process payroll, ensuring correct wage classifications and proper allocation of labor costs to individual projects and cost codes. Maintain payroll records in compliance with applicable regulations. Prepare monthly financial statements including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow summaries, and detailed Job Cost Reports for review by ownership. Assist with budgeting processes by compiling cost data, comparing projected vs. actual expenses, and helping identify areas for cost control. Maintain organized filing systems—both digital and physical—and ensure compliance with record-keeping regulations, retaining financial documentation in accordance with state and federal requirements. Coordinate with external CPA or tax professionals during year-end closeout, providing clean and organized financial documentation to support tax preparation and compliance. Provide financial administrative support to project managers and ownership, supplying accurate financial data needed for operational decision-making. Perform additional duties as assigned to support financial accuracy, job cost control, and overall company operations. Requirements Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; construction industry experience strongly preferred. Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop Software Working knowledge of construction job costing, cost codes, and progress billing. Experience handling subcontractor billing, retainage, and supplier invoicing. Understanding of payroll processing and labor burden allocation. Excellent communication and organizational skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a small business environment. Familiarity with construction office management and administrative procedures is a plus.
