An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
ArctiCorp is seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our established, locally owned company. The ideal candidate is accurate, efficient, and detail-oriented, with strong accounting knowledge and the ability to work independently while following established approval processes. We are looking for someone who can learn our current systems, use good judgment, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining appropriate financial controls. Key Responsibilities Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions Maintain accurate vendor, payment, and financial records Perform bank and account reconciliations, including review of debits and credits Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and recordkeeping Track recurring expenses, payments, and financial obligations Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes Prepare financial reports and supporting information for management Research and resolve accounting discrepancies Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation Coordinate with management regarding invoices and items requiring review or approval Communicate professionally with vendors, accountants, payroll providers, and other financial partners Maintain strict confidentiality of company, employee, shareholder, and financial information Assist in evaluating accounting workflows and identifying practical opportunities for greater efficiency Perform additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed What We're Looking For Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when management review or approval is needed Professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to accept direction, adapt to changing processes, and work collaboratively Strong commitment to confidentiality and discretion Preferred Qualifications Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Experience with payroll systems Experience supporting multiple locations or business entities Accounting, bookkeeping, or finance education is a plus; relevant experience will also be considered Who Will Succeed in This Role Someone who takes ownership of their work, values accuracy without overcomplicating processes , and looks for practical solutions.
