South Shore Insurance Underwriters (SSIU) is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. This is a newly created position that will provide additional support across our accounts receivable and accounts payable functions while also contributing to month-end close and other accounting activities. If you enjoy owning your work, staying organized, and contributing to a fast-moving, collaborative team, this role is for you. What You'll Do Receive, record, and accurately apply incoming payments Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and assist with researching and resolving outstanding or unapplied balances Process vendor invoices and payments and maintain accurate accounts payable records Assist with account reconciliations and research discrepancies as needed Support month-end closing activities, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and other supporting documentation Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and appropriate supporting documentation Work with other members of the Accounting team to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and timely Provide cross-functional support within the Accounting department as business needs and priorities change Assist with special projects and process improvements as opportunities arise Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) Experience in accounting, finance, or a related field Open to recent graduates Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Ability to adapt as priorities and workloads change Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems Insurance or MGA experience is a plus but not required At SSIU, we believe taking care of our people comes first — which is why we offer 100% employer-paid health and dental benefits, competative paid time off, 12 paid holidays each year, flexible work arrangements, 12 weeks paid parental leave and a 401(k) with a 4% company safe harbor match.
