Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our finance team! In this vital role, you will manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees while maintaining compliance with applicable labor laws and tax regulations. Your expertise in payroll systems, accounting principles, and HRIS platforms will drive efficiency and accuracy across our payroll operations. Responsibilities Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements. Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for general ledger integration, maintaining precise records of debits and credits. Manage payroll tax filings, including withholding, reporting, and remittance in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Collaborate with HRIS and time & attendance systems to verify employee hours, benefits administration data, and employment status updates. Conduct account reconciliations related to payroll expenses, benefits, and tax liabilities to ensure data integrity. Handle confidential employee information with integrity while supporting audits and internal controls. Stay informed on employment & labor law changes affecting payroll processing and ensure ongoing compliance across all functions. Experience Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate accounting environment, ideally supporting non-profit organizations or similar sectors. Extensive knowledge of payroll systems such as Workday, Kronos, Ceridian, or PeopleSoft; proficiency with accounting software like QuickBooks or financial software is a plus. Strong understanding of tax law related to payroll taxes, benefits administration, and labor law compliance. Demonstrated ability to handle complex accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation. Familiarity with HR systems (HRIS), time & attendance systems, and payroll processing tools such as ADP or UltiPro. Excellent spreadsheet skills for data analysis and reporting; experience with spreadsheets is essential. Ability to manage sensitive information discreetly while maintaining high accuracy under tight deadlines.
