Job Description

Jordan Disposal is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant to take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting of our growing waste and roll-off operations. This is a hands-on accounting position for someone who is comfortable managing the books but can also go beyond basic bookkeeping to provide accurate financial reporting, analysis, reconciliations and improved accounting processes. The position will be based at the Redline Contractors office in Springdale, where Jordan Disposal shares administrative and management resources. We are not looking for a CFO. We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who can take ownership of the company's books, ensure the numbers are accurate and timely, and provide management with clear financial information to help operate the business. Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and complete company accounting records in QuickBooks
  • Manage and review accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform bank, credit card, loan and balance-sheet reconciliations
  • Manage monthly accounting close
  • Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet and other management reports
  • Review revenue, expenses and account classifications for accuracy
  • Track equipment, vehicle and other fixed assets
  • Assist with payroll accounting and related reconciliations
  • Maintain appropriate accruals and journal entries
  • Monitor customer receivables and aging
  • Help manage vendor accounts and payment schedules
  • Assist management with cash-flow forecasting and budgeting
  • Analyze operating costs, margins and financial trends
  • Improve accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Maintain clean and well-organized financial records
  • Coordinate with the company's external CPA for tax preparation, year-end reporting and other accounting matters
  • Assist management with financial information and special projects as required What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have strong practical accounting experience and be comfortable working in a privately owned, operational business where accuracy, organization and common sense are important.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting or related experience
  • Strong QuickBooks experience
  • Experience preparing monthly financial statements and completing month-end close
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and balance-sheet reconciliations
  • Experience with AP, AR, payroll and fixed assets
  • Ability to identify accounting errors and resolve discrepancies independently
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or strong relevant experience.
  • CPA certification or CPA-track experience is a plus.
  • Experience in waste management, trucking, construction, heavy equipment, demolition or another operational/service business would be particularly valuable.
This position would suit an experienced bookkeeper who is ready to move into a broader accounting role, or an accountant who enjoys being hands-on with the day-to-day financial operations of a business. We are looking for someone who will take ownership of the accounting function, not simply enter transactions. This position is responsible primarily for the accounting of Jordan Disposal LLC but will work from the Redline Contractors office in Springdale, Arkansas alongside the companies' administrative and management team.
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
