Job Description

The Role:
The Accountant p erforms a wide variety of introductory level professional accounting work in the preparation and maintenance of budget and accounting records. Performs treasury function for the City. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Proficiency using electronic spreadsheets is required.
Salary:
This position is: FLSA non-exempt, and will earn overtime for any hours worked over 40 in a week. A Grade 319 with an hourly salary between $31.8574 - $47.7861.

Prepares and submits a monthly analysis of expenditures and revenues. Calculates, reports, and pays the city's tax liabilities. Reconciles monthly bank statements, health insurance invoices, and retirement sub-ledger. Prepares statistical reports for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and verifies compliance. Maintains electronic spreadsheets on various accounts and produces reports as necessary. Collects, analyzes, and prepares working papers for audits and provides oral or written answers to auditors' questions. Prepare journal entries to record, correct or accrue assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures. Monitor accounts receivable and review past due invoices. Interpret and comply with accounting pronouncements, federal, state and local laws and regulations, and city polices, and develop and update procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Proficiency using electronic spreadsheets is required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
