Job Description

Position Summary The Bookkeeper / Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our clients' operations. This position performs full-cycle bookkeeping, ensures billing accuracy, and maintains rigorous compliance with accounting standards for both nonprofit and for-profit entities. The ideal candidate acts as a bridge between technical data and client service, delivering timely financial insights that drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & General Ledger Month-End Close:
Assist in the month-end closing process, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
Adjusting Journals:
Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
Reporting:
Develop and distribute monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet) to stakeholders. Prepare financial statements for corporate tax returns.
Accounts Receivable & Revenue Management Invoicing:
Generate timely and accurate customer invoices on a monthly basis.
Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain accounts receivable records and ensure aging reports are up to date.
Reconciliation:
Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers with the general ledger to ensure data integrity.
Dispute Resolution:
Handle customer inquiries regarding bills or payments and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Accounts Payable & Expense Tracking Vendor Management:
Review, code, and process vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and approval.
Payment Cycles:
Manage weekly payment runs via ACH, check, or wire.
Expense Auditing:
Review employee expense reports for compliance with firm and client policies.
Qualifications Education:
Associates's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience:
3+ years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping or staff accounting, preferably within a public accounting or tax firm.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( GAAP ).
Preferred Skills & Experience Tax Support:
Experience preparing workpapers for Year-End tax filings (1040, 1120-S, 1065).
Nonprofit Accounting:
Familiarity with fund accounting and 990 reporting requirements.
Multi-entity:
Experience in a multi-entity or consolidated accounting environment.
Communication:
Ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial clients clearly and professionally.
Certification:
