full-time Staff Accountant Scottsdale, AZ (Onsite) Position Summary The Staff Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close. This role works closely with the Finance Director to help ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal controls, and efficient accounting processes across a multi-entity environment. The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and close processes. This position is well suited for a motivated accounting professional who is eager to grow within a fast-paced, mission-driven organization. Duties and Responsibilities Core Accounting & Financial Operations Prepare and post routine journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, payroll-related entries, and reclassifications Maintain accurate general ledger activity and supporting documentation across multiple entities Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed to ensure accuracy and timeliness Assist in maintaining intercompany transactions and reconciliations Ensure all payroll is entered properly, maintain fixed assets, prepaid/accrual journal entries, complete monthly reporting for fringe benefits and workers comp. Month-End & Year-End Close Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of schedules and account analysis Prepare close schedules and ensure deadlines are met Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively Assist with financial review and variance explanations as requested Recommend practical improvements to close processes, documentation, and accounting workflows Financial Reporting Support Prepare monthly reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for review Assist in variance analysis and trend identification Assist with preparation of internal financial statements and reporting packages Provide accurate financial data to support budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making Audit & Compliance Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for review Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies Maintain organized and audit-ready financial documentation Assist with regulatory reporting and compliance requirements Process Improvement & Systems Identify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and recommend improvements Assist with accounting system enhancements, reporting improvements, and automation initiatives Help develop and maintain SOPs for accounting processes Support implementation of scalable processes for company growth Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with HR on payroll entries, benefits accruals, and related reconciliations Collaborate with operations and leadership to ensure accurate financial data flow Serve as a resource for accounting-related questions across departments Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications 2-4 years of accounting experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Strong understanding of General Ledger and month-end close processes Experience with multi-entity accounting preferred Solid knowledge of accrual accounting and reconciliations Experience assisting with audits and financial reporting preferred High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare, startup, or high-growth environments Exposure to accounting system implementations, reporting tools, or automation initiatives
