Staff Tax Accountant
Job Description
Job Summary Clarity Group Financial is a well-established, small CPA firm located in south Orange County. We are seeking a full-time employee who has both Bookkeeping and Tax Return preparation experience and aligns with our core values as a company and is motivated to grow with our team. The staff tax accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns, assisting with tax planning, completing full cycle bookkeeping, and maintenance of general ledger accounts. Your primary responsibility on a day-to-day basis will be divided between bookkeeping services, and tax preparation as needed.
Responsibilities:
Complete the monthly bookkeeping and prepare financial statements for clients. Analyze client-prepared financial statements and make appropriate adjustments. Reconcile bank and other accounts Prepare month-end financial reports Process AP and AR for clients Verify, allocate, and post transactions Collect, analyze, and summarize account information Record cash receipts Maintain positive relationships with employees, vendors, and clients Provide timely responses to client requests Prepare and review individual, corporate, S corporation, partnership, trust, nonprofit, and estate tax returns Assist with tax projections, tax planning, and strategic tax-saving opportunities Respond to notices and correspondence from the IRS, FTB, EDD, and CDTFA Review financial statements, general ledgers, and accounting records for accuracy and tax reporting purposes Research federal and multi-state tax issues as needed Support the firm's commitment to high-quality client service and timely, accurate work We are looking for an accountant with a bachelor's degree in accounting or business is preferred, but for the candidate with the right experience, an accounting degree is not required.
Qualifications:
Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Microsoft 365 Proficient in accounting and bookkeeping procedures Proficient in income tax preparation and returns Proficiency with CCH Axcess Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax laws Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a professional environment Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills
