Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to manage the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The Property Accountant will be responsible for month-end close, financial statement preparation, tenant billing, reconciliations, budgeting support, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned properties.

Complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

Review and reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity.

Manage tenant billings, lease administration accounting, rent rolls, and CAM reconciliations.

Analyze operating expenses and variances against budget and prior periods.

Assist with annual budget preparation, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.

Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activity for assigned properties.

Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.

Prepare workpapers and support schedules for audits, tax filings, and lender requests.

Ensure accuracy and compliance with lease agreements and property management contracts.

Collaborate with property managers and asset managers to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights.

Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and property transitions as needed.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
