We import containers, sell through large national accounts, and we are growing fast enough that our accounting has to catch up. We are hiring a Staff Accountant to build and own accounts payable, and to be the person who knows what a container actually costs us by the time it lands in California. This is a build, not a maintenance job. We do not have an A/P function today. Unpaid bills are not being entered, which means our expenses hit the books when checks clear instead of when the costs are incurred. You will fix that in your first month and then keep it fixed. What you will do Own accounts payable end to end in

QuickBooks Online:

enter every bill on arrival, maintain the vendor master, run the A/P aging, and prepare the weekly payment run for approval. Build the accruals that do not exist yet, so third-party logistics, duty, brokerage and inbound freight land in the month the cost was incurred. Keep logistics coding clean. Outbound freight, 3PL fulfillment and small parcel are three different things and we forecast off the difference.

Track import costs:

duty against customs entries, brokerage and forwarder billing, and inventory in transit. Deliver the A/P side of month-end close to our outside bookkeeper on schedule. Process payroll and reconcile it to the ledger. Build landed-cost and margin models on request: FOB, ocean freight, duty and tariff by country and category, and operating expense allocation, by retail account. Support the accounting side of our Fishbowl to QuickBooks inventory implementation. What we are looking for Three or more years owning full-cycle accounts payable, not just entering invoices. Hands-on QuickBooks Online. You have personally entered bills, run A/P aging and executed payment runs in QBO. Real command of accrual accounting. You can explain why an expense belongs in the month of service rather than the month of payment, and make the entry that puts it there. Strong Excel and clear written English. Able to work full time on site in Camarillo, California. What will move you to the top of the list Importer, distributor or manufacturer experience: duty, customs brokerage, freight forwarder billing, landed cost. Familiarity with CBP periodic monthly statements and duty accrual. Inventory accounting, in-transit and landed cost. Experience alongside an ERP or inventory system. Payroll processing.
