Job description: Looking for More Than Just Another AP/AR Job? Most accounting positions ask you to perform one small piece of the accounting process. This isn't one of them. you'll work directly with ownership and gain hands-on experience across nearly every major area of accounting within an established wholesale importing company. Rather than becoming one person on a large accounting team, you'll become an important part of the company's financial operation. You will be the only person in accounting besides ownership. If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, working with numbers, and continuously learning, this is an opportunity to build a well-rounded accounting career—not just process invoices every day. We manage thousands of inventory transactions, vendor purchases, customer payments, freight costs, and day-to-day financial activity that require organized, accurate accounting. We're large enough to provide meaningful accounting experience, but small enough that your work has a direct impact on the business. You'll work closely with ownership, receive meaningful responsibility, and have the opportunity to grow as your skills develop. This Isn't a Traditional Accounting Department You won't be joining a department with separate AP specialists, AR specialists, payroll teams, and accounting managers. You will be the accounting department alongside ownership. That means you'll gain experience across multiple accounting disciplines while developing a much broader understanding of business operations than most entry-level accounting positions provide. If you're looking for a narrowly defined role where you perform the same task every day, this position probably isn't the right fit. If you're looking for responsibility, growth, and the opportunity to become a stronger accountant, keep reading. What You'll Be Responsible For Your responsibilities will include: Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable General Ledger maintenance Bank and account reconciliations Inventory-related accounting Vendor invoice processing Expense tracking Month-end closing support Internal financial reporting Maintaining accurate accounting records and documentation More importantly, you'll be expected to think—not simply process transactions. When numbers don't reconcile, we expect you to investigate. When something looks unusual, we expect you to ask questions. When you discover a problem, we expect you to help solve it. Accuracy is more important than speed. What Success Looks Like Successful employees in this position consistently demonstrate: Accurate reconciliations Organized financial records Clean general ledger maintenance Timely processing of payables and receivables Strong attention to detail Ownership of their work Honest communication when problems arise Continuous improvement of accounting processes Small accounting mistakes can have significant financial consequences. That's why precision matters. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of accounting experience Experience with both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals Excellent numerical reasoning skills Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, structured worksheets, basic analysis) High level of computer proficiency Ability to work independently Excellent organizational skills Strong written and verbal communication You'll Probably Thrive Here If... You enjoy finding mistakes before anyone else does. You naturally double-check your work. You like understanding why numbers don't match—not just fixing them. You enjoy building organized systems. You take pride in producing accurate work. You don't need someone standing over your shoulder every day. You welcome constructive feedback because you see it as an opportunity to improve. You want to become a stronger accountant every year—not simply hold the same responsibilities forever. This Probably Isn't the Right Position If... You're looking for a narrowly defined corporate accounting role. You prefer repetitive work with limited responsibility. You dislike working with numbers throughout the day. You rush through details. You rely on others to catch your mistakes. You avoid accountability when problems arise. You need constant supervision to stay productive. Growth Opportunities This position is designed to grow with you. As you demonstrate reliability and strong judgment, you'll become increasingly involved in: Inventory analysis Financial reporting Cash flow monitoring Expanded month-end close responsibilities Process improvements Financial analysis Greater involvement in company decision-making Your opportunities here are based on performance—not simply tenure.
