Job Description
Description Accounting meets operations — and you get to see how the numbers connect to the actual projects. A growing construction company in Escondido is seeking a Project Accountant to support multiple active projects and work directly with Project Managers and Operations. This is a great role for an accountant who enjoys more than traditional general ledger work. You'll be involved with job costs, project billing, vendor activity, budget tracking, contract documentation, and month-end reporting. What you'll own
+ Maintain accounting records for assigned construction projects
+ Track project costs against approved budgets
+ Review invoices for proper job and cost-code allocation
+ Assist with project billing and change orders
+ Monitor subcontractor and vendor activity
+ Reconcile project-related accounts
+ Prepare job-cost reports
+ Review project financial performance
+ Assist Project Managers with budget questions
+ Track commitments and outstanding project costs
+ Prepare monthly project reporting
+ Assist with WIP schedules and revenue-related reporting
+ Support month-end close
+ Research cost discrepancies
+ Maintain project accounting documentation
+ Assist with audits and year-end reporting Requirements + 2-5 years of accounting experience
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
+ Construction or project accounting experience strongly preferred
+ Strong Excel skills
+ Understanding of job costing and financial statements
+ Experience with accounting/ERP software
+ Excellent attention to detail
+ Strong communication skills
