full-time Overton Moore Properties is actively seeking a Construction Accountant to join our accounting team. Our company is privately-held and has been a recognized leader in the real estate development industry for over fifty years. We pride ourselves on the longevity of our staff and the team-oriented culture we've built. Based in Torrance, Overton Moore Properties has developed and acquired over 36 million square feet of industrial real estate and currently has over eleven million square feet under management. We're a highly entrepreneurial, well-capitalized organization, with a significant pipeline of development projects. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with our development, construction, and finance teams on a broad and active project pipeline. The position will report to the Controller and will be based in our Torrance, CA office. Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly construction draw requests and reporting packages for submittal to joint venture partners and construction lenders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Track project budgets against actual costs and flag variances for the development and accounting teams
- Process and code contractor and vendor invoices for development projects, ensuring proper cost coding by budget line item
- Reconcile job cost ledgers and maintain accurate project-level accounting records throughout the construction lifecycle
- Assist with the preparation of loan compliance reporting and respond to lender and joint venture partner inquiries
- Support month-end and year-end close processes for development entities, including accruals and capitalization of project costs
- Assist with the annual budgeting process for active and upcoming development projects
- Work with outside accountants and auditors on annual audits and tax return preparation as needed
- Maintain organized, audit-ready project files and documentation Required Skills
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface professionally with project managers, lenders, and joint venture partners
- Strong understanding of construction draw processes, job costing, and GAAP accounting
- Tech-savvy, with working knowledge of accounting and reporting software (Yardi, MRI, Sage, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Two or more years of construction or real estate development accounting experience preferred
